[ Food for the Spirit and the Soul ]
Is this possible—to become “absolutely perfect and irreproachable” in spirit and soul and body? It is with the help of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God or it wouldn’t be declared in the Word in the affirmative as the accomplished condition of believers by the time of His coming.
Listen :
If we do not live until the day of His physical return, by our quick repentance when we sin we each should be found clean when we stand before Him on the day we die. But this cannot and will not happen without the Christian’s complete devotion to the plan of God to sanctify the follower of Jesus.
Such a person as this is one like Mary who said to the angel at the news of her virgin pregnancy, which would be a hardship for her at several levels, “Be it unto me according to thy word.”
( † † † )
† 1 Thessalonians 5:6 - let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober ... 16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 19 Quench not the Spirit. 20 Despise not prophesyings. 21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23 And the very God of peace sanctify (make you holy ) you wholly (absolutely perfect ); and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved (watched over, guarded ) blameless (irreproachable ) unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I have known of only a handful of believers in my lifetime that have been that devoted as to know going God’s way meant walking along a narrow and rocky road and agreed to walk that path no matter what. God has a unique individual plan for each man and woman to bring us into the state of genuine holiness—a blueprint that has been determined by God that we cannot know the details of in advance other than to know that His plan is to step-by-step refine and transform each of us during our Christian life by things either permitted or arranged by God for our good.
And yet, a giant majority of believers (at least in this last age ) will have never even traveled on the strait and narrow road very far before this trouble or that caused them to just stop and sit on the side of the road only to watch a scant-few-others travel on.

⊳ Such believers will be shocked at what shoulda/coulda/woulda been in the way of heavenly treasure, rewards and the honor of authority in the eternal kingdom of God but are things they will not receive because they were so ho-hum about their relationship with God and their responsibilities to the life of a true follower of Jesus.
As part of the exhortation to feed your spirit and mind, let me stir your heart about how important it is to actively live each day as the new creature you became once being born again.
You might remember one of the very last comments I made in part 2 where I said this:
“Only the man and woman that has been born again and lived according to the precepts of a life in Christ outlined in His Word ... will enter eternity-future in the most glorious of forms and fashion.”
“The most glorious form and fashion” you wonder? What you have waiting for you on the other side (or not ), what eternal possessions you are bestowed (or do not get ), what honors by the responsibilities you are given based on how you served God here (or didn’t) will be evident to everyone in the kingdom of God—perhaps even as soon as when Jesus begins His 1,000 year reign here on the earth.
𝕎 hat rewards and great blessings?
⊳ There is the crown of life (Jam. 1:12 & Rev. 2:10 ), crown of glory (1 Pet. 5:4 ), crown of righteousness (2 Tim. 4:8 ), crown of rejoicing (1 Thess. 2:19 ), treasure in heaven for some (Matt. 6:20, 19:21 ), ones made rulers over the master’s things (Matt. 25 ), those that will see God (Matt. 5:8, Heb 12:14 ), the ones that inherit the earth (Matt. 5:5 ), those that inherit all things (Rev. 21:7 ), the ones granted to eat of the Tree of Life and enter into the New Jerusalem (Rev. 22:14 ).
And several (although few compared to the number of those that have been redeemed ) will even have a visible share of the brightness of the glory of the Savior upon them because of how dedicated they were to following in His ways while struggling against the distractions, temptations, and increasing hardships of their former earthly life.
And so, I repeat myself again : Only the man and woman that has been born again and lived according to the precepts of a life in Christ as revealed in the New Testament…will enter eternity future in the most glorious of forms and fashion.
( † † † )
† John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
And “the ‘precepts’ of a life in Christ?” The details in God’s Word that are easy to discover and live by, if we will—and especially the specific thing that the writers referred to over and over again in this general phrase used: “The knowledge of God.”
Do you aspire to become all that God desires to make of you? If you truly do, it means conforming your life to a much disciplined walk of faith, righteousness and resulting holiness—that’s what being a disciple of Jesus Christ means! It requires finding the place where that which is your physical life’s legitimate needs and responsibilities are balanced with what your spiritual life needs and is to be about.
And I dare say that we should err to the needs of the spirit and soul when there is a decision to be made about our time spent on one thing or the other—the physical versus the spiritual.
Chief among that spiritual side is a dedication to feeding your mind and spirit the Word of God daily, living up to what you read in the Book, having back and forth talks with the Lord, being baptize in the Holy Spirit, staying filled, and walking daily in a Spirit-filled life, learning to acknowledge Him in all your ways, growing in faith and trust in the Lord through the trials and tests that He permits to arise against you, quickly resorting to repentance when it is needed, walking in love and forgiveness, and not being shy about your faith in Jesus Christ.
Too hard to do, you say? No, it isn’t because the Savior is there to help every step of the way; after all, He is in “the yoke” with you and with me.
( † † † )
† Matthew 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
† 1 Thessalonians 5:19 Quench not the Spirit ...21 ... hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23 And the very God of peace sanctify (make you holy ) you wholly…[And how best are we “sanctified? ]
† 17: [Jesus prayed :] 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
† 2 Peter 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God [knowing God and He you and what His Word says ], and of Jesus our Lord, 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue. . . 5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
† 1 Corinthians 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications (worthless associations [people, things or time stealers ] ) corrupt (spoil, ruin ) good manners (habits ). 34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
† Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end , that men ought always to pray, and not to faint… 8 …[A warning: ] Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
Many today forfeit so much of the grace from God that is available to all of us while we still live in this realm. His grace is His favor and blessing and gifts—all needed things for our growth and development and the power to live for God daily.
You (under the sound of my voice ) have heard me say over the years that “There is added grace for those that meet as believers that those that can not meet with others or can but do not meet will receive.”
Legitimate believers’ meetings provide the encouragement through the words of the songs and hymns we sing and of the testimonies of what God is doing in the lives of our brothers and sisters.
We are taught, challenged, pruned, corrected and spiritually fed by the Word, if we will actively listen to it, receive and live it—the Word is among the highest form of grace to receive that we are responsible to avail ourselves to on purpose.
( † † † )
† Hebrews 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised; ) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is ; but exhorting one another : and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
† Malachi 3:16 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it , and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name. 17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
We each must feed our mind and subsequently our eternal spirit a regular diet of the Word of God; any that do not fail at taking unto themselves the needed things for the God-ordered transformation into the image and likeness of His Son.
But there is more to the feeding and nourishing of the non -physical being that you and I also are. We are to receive from the available supply by super natural means of the life of the Lord Jesus Who conquered death and lives evermore. That also comes through our eating and drinking at His Table.
This was a picture seen over and over again from the practices commanded of God upon the people of Israel until the Messiah would come—the offer’s identifying with and eating of the atoning sacrifice starting with the very first Passover on Israel’s last night in Egypt.
For born again ones, it is not a mundane or outdated religious ritual but to be a source of refreshing; a refreshing and reinforcing of the eternal life He has given us by the sacrifice of His body, His blood and physical human life.
You don’t have to understand it—just participate by faith in it and believe that you receive a renewal of His life within for your eternal spirit. By faith it is a fresh and needed reinforcing of His life—without faith the Table of the Lord provides little or nothing.
Carefully Consider What Jesus Declared Here:
( † † † )
† John 6:26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. 27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed... 32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. 34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. 35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst... 48 I am that bread of life. 49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. 50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh (lit. body ), which I will give for the life of the world... 53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood [sound at all familiar to the Lord’s Table?], ye have no life in you. 54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. 56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him... [The key to beginning to understand what Jesus just said:] 63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you that believe not...[have not faith.]
For the spiritual development of our minds and our resurrected spirit there is for us the blessing and intended sustenance for our [being renewed ] mind and spirit for those that eat at the Lord’s Table regularly, whether we are in a formal meeting together or in a tiny group of 2 or 3, or sitting alone in our homes or with our spouse and still at-home children or even Christian guests.
We don’t need to understand how such grace works within us , or necessarily be aware that it does , but by faith accept and acknowledge what the Word says about what we are to do that is obedience that results in Divine blessing.
The words and instructions of Jesus in our Bibles in the Gospels and at 1 Corinthians 11 say this: “Take, eat and drink” and “This do”. When we do, at the very least we will be reminded of this
( † † † )
† Job 27:2 As God liveth, who hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, who hath vexed my soul; 3 All the while my breath is in me, and the spirit of God is in my nostrils; 4 My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.
Why are the members of the church today weak and powerless in their lives against sin, Satan, and the world? It is because so many have not been taught (by choice to not read the Word for themselves or by the voice of others ) about the many things pertinent to our new life in Christ.
This will be costly in the extreme in the near future months and years before us. How can believers fair if they do not know the Word for themselves in light of this event even now beginning to happen:
( † † † )
† Amos 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: 12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it .
Our minds must be renewed to line-up with our resurrected spirit—both the mind and spirit need regular spiritual nourishment from the Word of God, fellowship with God, the fullness of the Holy Spirit, weekly instructions in righteousness, praise and worship of God from the spirit and in truth, and the participation by active faith in its value and benefit at the Lord’s Communion Table for spiritual refreshment.
Without these things consistently infused into the spirit and soul of a Christian, he or she is living in disobedience and, without a doubt, are developmentally disabled and in spiritual danger of failing in their faith to be saved by the terrible events of these last days.
Members of today’s church must recognize this and stop their self-imposed starvation of the mind and resurrected spirit and feed the mind and spirit in the ways we have discussed.
( † † † )
† Matthew 24:12 And because iniquity [knowing it is sin but doing it anyway ] shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
† Romans 2:7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: 8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, 9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; 10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: 11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
† 1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
† Ecclestiastes 12:13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Dear ones , feed your mind and equip your regenerated spirit with the Word of God daily and participate in as many of the other ways as we have discussed in these discussions ...
