Listen :
Many years ago there was a young man in our church that (
with his family ) had been very active in our meetings. Eventually the family stopped coming because of their own internal issues but the young man continued to come for a time until one day I received a handwritten note in my mailbox.
He said that he would not be attending any longer because all I did was “give information”.
What actually was the case as I saw it unfolding was that along with his family’s strife he had drifted into the world of un christian physical pleasure as evidenced by the bruises on his neck (hickies ) and the reliable reports that he had been observed by another church member buying alcoholic beverages.
The “information” that he no longer wanted to hear was about the lives we are to live as Christians according to the Word of God; that is what a teacher of God’s Word is supposed to do! I had also heard from others in the church that visitors that had come once or twice did into return because they had felt the conviction of the Holy Spirit by the “information” from the Bible that I share each week.
Fast-forward to today
Fast-forward to today: It is possible that this present subject especially might sound like information that is beyond comprehension and of little use, and yet, it is what the Lord has prompted me to share with you that have ears to hear.
Why are we having these intellectually challenging discussions? What we are talking about goes way past what religious practice is about and well beyond what the general teachings of what even the true church of today presents.
You can think of what I have said and will be saying about “our fifth-dimensional keys” as the kingdom of heaven’s children, as being similar to the study of quantum physics. I know nothing about that subject although it interests me but it is beyond my intellect and training and therefore, I spend no time to learn much about it—it is a very deep subject of quantum physic and computer science.
But we are invited to understand a certain aspect of the kingdom of heaven and of God that involves our learning how to spiritually operate in a manner that is to tickle our intellect into thinking deeper about spiritual matters.
( † † † )
† Luke 17:20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation (ocular evidence [physically seeing it ]): 21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom ({from sovereign } rule, reign ) of God is within (inside ) you.
I am certain that you would agree that the things of the spiritual realm function in ways we cannot physically see, using means that we are not aware of, and affect you and me and the whole world in either the ways of our holy God by Him and His agents or by the evil ways of the devil and his minions.
But know this:
But know this: When we were born again, we were made citizens of the kingdom of heaven with the privilege of going each one of us ourselves before the throne of Almighty God as well as having been given certain rights as both His children and dedicated followers of Jesus.
Yet, a majority of true followers fail to go into the Presence of God by prayer and for fellowship, and fewer still are those that stand up in the authority and of our God-given spiritual rights and employing them in the power that members of the first church did. These two passages hint at such things:
( † † † )
† Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. . .
† Ephesians 2:4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved; ) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
† Matthew 11:11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence (to crowd oneself, force, seize ), and the violent (forcer ) take (harpazo: seize it ) it by force (takes for oneself ). [This means there is to be aggressive action on our parts! ]
The rights we are given cannot be used as a mere earthling that only believes in Jesus Christ but are actions to be engaged in as a duly authorized servant of the living God.
In that birthright and authorization we are to “stand”-up in the capacity of one that is a member of the kingdom of God, which out-ranks all the demons and fallen angels of the satanic realm.
In my years-long use of the example, I remind you again that Jesus is the Sheriff and you have been deputized, given a badge of authority and supernatural weapons to use against the bad guys.
Two important and necessary aspects of using our authority are by our living a life that is Christ-like and how we speak.
First: A drunk or high on drugs sheriff’s deputy cannot show up to a trouble-spot and be effective—he or she must be sober, clear thinking, and living himself up to the ethical, legal, and moral requirements of the office they represent.
And secondly, as to the words we use being important, when using them especially in a spiritual context, they must be genuine and be words that carry the power granted by God to conduct heaven’s business on the earth in our lives and sometimes in the lives of others.
I offer you four critical examples
I offer you these four critical examples about how we use words properly or not:
1. A term that is intended to be powerful but may not be because of spiritual disobedience and an undisciplined life is saying this as a preface to some spiritual declaration: “By faith I…”. If a believer does not have a true and sure-footed faith in God and His written Word, just using those words may result in nothing happening. Declaring “by faith” must have the power behind it of what the Bible’s word “faith” means: Regarding God’s Word and what God has said, faith is “Having been fully persuaded, a reliance on Christ, being constant in one’s profession”, it is the truth ful position of one’s mind, heart and spirit and is the now foundation of the believer’s everyday life. Are there times where a declared position in true faith may not happen? Yes, but the reasons for that are not for a lack of faith but have other factors that God is in charge of. If we are inspired to declare or pray for some result with genuine faith, we can and should do so, and then put the results of our believing words in the hands of God; the results are His business!
2. Over the years I have heard many Christians declare that they have put on the armor of God († Eph. 6 ) and yet by them just saying that they are wearing the armor doesn’t necessarily mean they have it on (the Emperor’s New Clothes ). This is true especially when they are not students of the Word of God, which “sword” strengthens faith and provides a supernatural weapon against attacks. We must realize that our spiritual enemy knows if one’s life is superficial or truly walks in the life and power of God.
3. We are taught to believe on, pray using, and do spiritual warfare in the Name of Jesus but if one does not really believe in the power of His Name, again—the results may be catastrophic (the 7 sons of Sceva [† Acts 19 ]) or a failure of a needed action (the disciples failing to exorcise the boy’s demon [† Matthew 17 ]). Although not yet mentioned to you, the Name of Jesus is one more critical 5th-dimension key to be used by true believers to accomplish those things Jesus said we can do “in My Name”. But we must be “fully persuaded” (have faith ) that His name overrules any condition that the Holy Spirit moves upon us to counteract (sickness, demons, even death ).
4. Asking for God’s forgiveness and that our sin be washed away by the blood of Jesus is really important to believe that it actually has happened (it is the sincere and “truthful position of the mind, heart and spirit that sin has been cleansed” ). However, there are those that say, “Well, I put my sin or his or her offense under the blood of Jesus”, which should mean that it will never be brought up again in our minds or in open conversation. And yet, it often does come up again. We must regularly check ourselves about what we say we believe, or what we say out loud in prayer, as they may be easy to say religious words that are empty and powerless even though they are not supposed to be.
( † † † )
† Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance (support, concrete essence, assurance ) of things (deeds, affairs ) hoped (expecting, confidence ) for, the evidence (proof, conviction ) of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3 Through faith we understand (comprehend, exercise our mind [to know ]) that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
† Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places . 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. . .
Let us circle back to what I introduced in part one :
The two highest ranking means we are given by God through Jesus to pierce the veil of general spiritual impotence and to see results are faith and prayer by faith. Genuine faith in God and in His Word, and the prayers we can and should pray, are the master keys for opening the doors of the promises, provisions, and power of Heaven.
There is both real faith and there is real prayer but there are also empty versions of these, so how can we know the differences between that which God and His realm honors and acts on and that which is just an impotent religious exercise just for the sake of convincing ourselves that we have faith and that we have prayed ?
Many people have the belief of themselves that they have faith in God. While we hope it is true that they have genuine faith in God to be saved when they die, so many often find that when they pray and nothing happens that something is wrong and it must be on God’s part. At other times, they believe they have faith in God until they must pray serious prayers of true-believing-faith and then they begin to realize how thin their faith in God is by their rising doubts and questions and anxiety when things don’t happen—at least in their timeline.
Believers pray and then often and easily become more and more distracted by growing doubts and in their hearts their faith begins to deteriorate from “believing God's will” to slipping into “hoping God's will” and finally to “Nothing happened. Prayer does-no-good!”.
I’m urging you to see faith and prayer as supernatural actions and to see them as more than just what you believe and what the prayer has meant to you.
Try to remember this:
Try to remember this: Prayer is the supernatural means to access the supernatural help, provisions, and at times the power of God for the im possible things that are needed. When you pray, if you will pray, you are using a bridge that God has established for His children still in this 4-dimensional realm to communicate with and participate with His realm.
For the follower of Jesus Christ, prayer is not natural but is a spiritual asset that is not of this natural realm. We must let the inner man that has been born within us use prayer as a key -card at times giving us access to the throne room of God for making routine and needful petitions before the Father.
But at other times, our inner man, we as a new creature must use prayer as the battering ram it can also be to break through in to the realm of Heaven when there is a real, legitimate and urgent need but with some real spiritual resistance at the door by the devils working against us; to this end I would add that “fasting” adds a warhead to the end of that battering ram († Dan. 9:3 , † Matt. 17:20-21 ).
At times, prayer is like a door-buster to break through the barriers of our mere 4-dimensional human experience and our human senses of sight and feeling, which faithful praying gives us access to the supernatural realm of both answered prayers and miracles happily given us as kingdom citizens, if we’ll see prayer that way and see it through!
Prayer is a supernatural event
Prayer is a supernatural event involving still limited and struggling men and women on many issues of this life and as Christians. It is the functional tool we must use while ignoring human doubts and the whispers of the enemy—praying is !—and our faith is to be the strong grip of our spiritual fingers that never let go of the key-card, while it is our well-developed strength of our spiritual muscles that slam the battering ram into and through any doorways being held shut by the enemy († Dan. 10:13 ).
This week, please do not forget this: God does more when we pray then when we do not—and genuine faith-filled prayer is participating in the several mysteries found as part of our growing fellowship with Christ and our eternal God.
( † † † )
† Ephesians 3:7 … I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. 8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; 9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: 10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, 11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord: 12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him. 13 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. 14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 [I pray ] That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might (dynamis: force, miraculous power ) by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth (profundity, mystery, deepness ), and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. 20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
We’re not done yet!
We’re not done yet! Even though it might seem like I am speaking of faith and prayer in metaphorical terms, I am not.
Next we meet, I will put a finer point on the issue of faith and prayer as super-natural issues that should be helpful for most.
