THE RIGHT WORD - with Brother Scott
. 1 Thessalonians 5:6. Recently in three parts we looked at our tri-part being and the order by which we are to attend to the way we were created. By the fall of mankind into sin the order of priority whereby we have been inspired and then acted was flipped upside down from the original order of spirit, soul and physical body to become body first and then the soul with no input from our dead-to-God spirit.

Listen :

From that series called Our Needed Spiritual Diet I shared that our spirit is the life that God gave us and that the soul belongs to the spirit and that it goes with the spirit at death and that the physical body (Gr. slave) is the servant of the soul and spirit while on this worldly plane.

Due to sin, we have given the body and what it wants the loudest vote on the consequential things regarding what we want and will do with no thought of God by our dead spirit.
However, as born-again ones with a resurrected spirit once more in touch with God, most Christians do not understand the created order of our existence and therefore do not consult God about the consequential issues of life and the decisions we make and carry out.
Essentially, we still listen to what the body and unrenewed mind want, which have to do with passions, pleasures and plans that can be sinful. Our mind must be renovated, our emotions given restraints (since they play to the mind to convince the will), and our will given the boundaries and discipline to will-ing-ly behave morally and to go God’s way on all things.
In short, a summary statement made in part three of the “Diet” series was this: “The Divine order of our existence was originally, and once born again is to become spirit first, soul, and body at the bottom with the actions of our lives flowing from the wisdom and guidance from our spirit (the life restored by and unto God), understood by the soul, and physical actions accomplished through the human body, as the apostle wrote in Thessalonians 5:23.

Put another way, the human body is the servant of the soul and the spirit (the body is like a glove, the soul like the fingers in the glove, and our spirit issuing guidance—in a fashion like the instructions that flow from the human brain to the body’s muscles). The soul (who we are and have become throughout our lives) belongs to the spirit by the power of its life—the life that is given by the Creator.

Your and my spirit is the life that God gave us, and the soul is the awareness of being alive and the accumulation of our every day’s experiences (like a living book) as the result of the breath of life—the human spirit. As created, just as our body connects us to this physical world, our spirit is to put our mind, emotions and willingness in touch with God and His realm.”
We must come to terms with the fact (and everyone will in one time or another) that our life was literally given to us by God and it returns to His dispositioning at our physical death. What happens at the event of the judgment of each of our lives has to do with how we lived our lives on the earth, did we come to believe on and live for Jesus or not, and if not, how otherwise did we live our lives and what eternal wages will a man or woman be given as a result.

† 1 Corinthians 4:7 For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

† Ezekiel 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

† Ecclesiastes 12: [Solomon speaking of death:] 5 ... desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets: 6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern. 7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

† Revelation 20: [All non-Christians will appear here at the end of these 7-thousand years:] 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

And so now we arrive at the subject of today’s discussion: The 3rd Temple Revisited; revisited in the sense that we looked closely at things around this last day’s concept of the rebuilt 3rd temple in Jerusalem but with my making the case that it was a work of man that has nothing to do with God, per se.

In that 3-part series I made the case that getting excited about the building of a third physical temple in Jerusalem was misguided because the Bible informs us that since Jesus’ death and resurrection—we are the temple of God.

And so, having just come off some teachings about our 3-part being pointing out that our resurrected spirit, in a fashion, was to be the head of our existence and the physical body the extremities of our life and service to God upon the earth, we will now begin to talk about our human body in this life.

Even though our bodies are simply the clay glove that we wear for a short time, we must understand that it at least in-part has become the dwelling place of God and to be respected as such. I briefly remind you of this:
( )
† 1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's [as a purchased possession].
So, our resurrected spirit is to be the head of our life and the physical body to provide the mouth, hands and feet in this world. Therefore, our bodies are not inconsequential if they now belong to God and have become His mobile vehicles in this realm. Regarding the emergence of the dwelling place of God upon the earth, have you ever considered these things to follow?

Please pay attention to the history of God’s dwelling place on the earth—it is important toward the purpose of what I’ll be sharing next in parts two and three:

.𝔾od’s dwelling place on the earth.

1. The first dwelling place of God was in the tabernacle in the Wilderness and then later, nearby to Jerusalem and still in the mobile “tent of the testimony” (Num. 9:15) having the Ark of the Covenant and Mercy Seat sitting in the Holy of Holies

2. Later, Solomon built a magnificent temple and God moved into the Holy of Holies and again behind the heavy veil where the Ark and Mercy Seat sat

3. Much later because of the terrible sin of the nation, just before the armies of Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Jerusalem and Solomon’s temple, the prophet Jeremiah removed and hid the Ark of the Covenant and its Mercy Seat

4. After 70 years of exile in Babylon and as prophesied by Jeremiah, the Jews were allowed to return to Jerusalem specifically to rebuild the temple and restore both the worship and a new foothold in that land for the nation

5. That rebuilt temple was a mere shadow of what Solomon had built but it did not have the Ark and Mercy Seat—they didn’t know where it was hidden

6. A few hundred years later, Herod the Great renovated the entire site and all the structures into another magnificent place of worship—but again it neither had the Ark and its Mercy Seat nor the Presence of God or even a legitimate High Priest from the line of Aaron.

7. Now in about A.D. 27 the Anointed One begins His 3½ year ministry. Isn’t it interesting that the Presence of God was not in the Holy of Holies but now did regularly visit the temple in the Person of God the Son, Jesus Christ

8. Toward the end of His ministry, Jesus prophesied that the temple would be utterly destroyed—and in only a matter of weeks perhaps, on the cross as He surrendered His life unto death and His Father’s care, the symbolic separation that was the veil between the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies where God’s Presence used to dwell—that separation representing the body of Jesus Christ now sacrificed for our sins—that heavy veil was Divinely torn from top to bottom making the way for each of us to enter into the very presence of God through repentance, humility, prayer and desired fellowship

9. Due to the rejection of their Messiah and ongoing conflict with Rome, in A.D. 70 under General Titus, Jerusalem and the temple were utterly destroyed; the temple mount today houses an Islamic Mosque

10. Also now in our time (at the end of days as the Bible foretells), the Jews rejoice in the fully completed preparations now in place to erect “the 3rd temple” on the very place the first two had stood, and then to restore the system of sacrifices so-long absent in their worship of YHWH (aka Jehovah). And many Christians today by ignorance, because of more than 75 years of prophetic best-guess teachings, will talk gleefully when the 3rd physical temple goes up. But why, it is no longer needed? Jesus opened the way for us to God!

( )
† Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; 21 And having an high priest over the house of God; 22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

† 1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are [where God’s Presence is is holy, and He lives in you now as a born-again one].

† 2 Corinthians 1: [Regarding the Holy Spirit in true Christians:] 20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. 21 Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God; 22 Who hath also sealed (stamped [as by His signet or private mark], attested) us, and given the earnest (pledge, security deposit) of the Spirit in our hearts. (Also 2 Cor. 5:5)

† Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ… 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, 14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

† 2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

As Christians we must understand this: There is no need for an earthly temple of wood, stone and precious metals since Jesus’ death and resurrection—born-again ones are now the temple of God upon the earth—we are the dwelling place of His Presence and are a vast improvement over the tabernacle and later Solomon’s glorious temple.

The tabernacle and later temple (both temporary like our clay bodies and also having 3 sections) were patterned like these things: First, patterned in the likeness and image of God like we are in three parts: spirit and soul and body. And secondly, there is a temple in Heaven that the earthly tabernacle and later temple were patterned after.

( )
† Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them. . .

† Exodus 25: [The first reference of a heavenly temple:] 39 Of a talent of pure gold shall he make it, with all these vessels. 40 And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount.

† Acts 7: [Stephen spoke of it also:] 44 Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as he had appointed, speaking unto Moses, that he should make it according to the fashion (model, pattern) that he had seen.

† Hebrews 8: [And Paul spoke of it, too:] 1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. 3 For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. 4 For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: 5 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

This is part one of three parts, and I have not begun to address the issue of the importance of why we must see our physical bodies as the temple of our God. Such a right understanding has much to do with how we should live each day in this present world.

I will say this much in advance of part 2: Your body and mine are part of the paid-for possession of God as one born-again from Heaven. Consider your body to be a thing to be dedicated to God’s ways and purposes and therefore something to be taken care of and maintained as a holy home for God’s Spirit.
