| “Complaining ” About God : Part II

In our first discussion about “Complaining about God ”, I pointed out to you two things that were a summary notice regarding such murmuring: Complaining about God is a lack of faith (or sufficient faith ), and also that it does not go unheard of by God that you disapprove of how He handles the issues of your life.
Listen :
Complaints are known of by God by what we silently think, what we say with our mouth, and what we do or do
not do, such as refusing to regularly read His Word, shunning its instruction and governance, and by giving Him the cold-shoulder of
non -prayer.
Take heed , church family members, we should not offend God!
( † † † )
† Proverbs 3:1 My son, forget not my law (Heb. torah ); but let thine heart keep my commandments: 2 For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. 3 Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 4 So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. 7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. 8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
Complaints about God most often come when He permits or arranges circumstances that are not easy for you or me to cope with and require or at least invite us to go to God about them. The surest way for faith in God to be reinforced is when something impossible to fix happens that only God can do anything about and we go to Him in earnest, and are forced to wait on His help; when He does, this shows us we can trust God and strengthens our faith in Him.
However, if we can solve the issue ourselves as a back-up plan, and we keep that in mind, we will inevitable not wait on God very long to show Himself faithful and mighty, and we solve the problem ourselves and lose-out on the intended value of that situation that would result in growing our confidence in our trusting God (in a 1-10 scale of rated confidence, He wants us to be at a 10—the total trust in Him ).
𝕊 trange as it may sound ...
Strange as it may sound, over the years of my serving the Lord as a teacher, it has become evident to me that professing Christians can trust the Lord to save them from Hell and the Lake of Fire once this life is over (truly a really big deal! ) but they cannot trust the Lord for the things of this life (listen to the metaphor or the weight-lifting challenge on the audio ). I can trust God about my eternity but not about today and tomorrow?
If I cannot trust Him about today and in my tomorrows in spite of the minor things that actually weigh more and more upon me and against my faith in Him, what makes me think that I can hold on to a faith that He will save me when I die in the very worst of such times? To not be trained and equipped to trust Him through the issues of today and tomorrow as they pile up against my life, and when faced with an imminent death for my faith, will my faith in God stand firm?
In still other words, if I cannot grow strong enough in my personal experiences of coming to fully trust in Him for what I need or that I face in the here and the now, then under the extreme circumstances of our soon tomorrows, will I easily fail in my faith in Him to save me and will never see Heaven?
ℂ omplaints About God ...
have at their center a deficient faith in God.
I remind you again: Complaints about God have at their center a deficient faith in God. If you fully trusted Him, you would not mount a baseless lawsuit against Him in your mind and heart but would instead declare the facts of His power and faithfulness to yourself no matter the fact that He is the only One that “can take so long to be right on time”! Therefore, what do we need to know and to do for ourselves in order that we never complain about God in our minds and out loud to ourselves or others?
The answer is to build up our faith and trust in God and our Savior Jesus; if you do not , you remain extremely vulnerable by the small and unsure faith you might have to save you into Heaven when you die; are you at risk of such an un stable faith to save you in the end. Sincerely go to the Lord and ask Him!
Please pay attention to the details about faith as likened to a mustard seed.
( † † † )
† Mark 4:30 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? 31 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: 32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.
† Luke 17:5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith. 6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.
† Matthew 17: [As to casting out evil spirits: ] 20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
† Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, 21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
ℍ ere's a point that many miss about what Jesus said
Here is a point that so many miss about what Jesus said: “If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say”, you can say to that tree or a mountain, “be plucked up” or “be moved over there” and it shall obey.
He didn’t say that the grain had to be already grown up as a large growth so-much-so that it has great branches for the birds to live there in its shadows. No, with so much as a grain -sized measure of faith you or I can ...
[NOTE this : ] by trusting God when it is His purpose for the tree to be plucked up or the mountain to be removed , you can or I can speak to it under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit , and by the power of God things-will-happen.
( † † † )
† Matthew 21:18 Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered. 19 And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away. 20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away! 21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
The Lord grieves over the fact that so few in the church today have been taught and for themselves have come to acknowledge that unrelenting faith is literally the key to having all things made available from God through Jesus—all things!
𝕋 here's nothing we can do ...
to earn things from God in our own strength
There is nothing we can do to earn things from God in our own strength; we cannot by our own power earn credits for future things we will ask for. The mustard seed of faith is given to us by God’s Spirit and houses a tiny germ in the seed that breaks through the hard shell of worldliness and the unbelief that surrounds it and germinates (brings into existence ) the expanding new life in Christ and a reliable trust in God.
But the seed of faith in God must be nurtured, kept warm by a relationship with the Son, given the light of the Son by the Word, and protected from the elements of the world’s ways in order for it to develop and grow strong like a mighty oak tree.
This is the marvel of the gift of faith that God gives anyone that hears about Jesus even at the great distances from the One True God as are all pagan cultures.
Hannah let faith take charge in her life as she waited on God to give her a son—Samuel, the later a powerful prophet and priest of God:
( † † † )
† 1 Samuel 2:7 The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. 8 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them. 9 He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. 10 The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces...
† Luke 7:2 And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die. 3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant... 6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: 7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. 8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel [the centurion was both a Roman officer and a gentile—his faith was mustard seed size]. 10 And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.
† Matthew 15:22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. 23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. 26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. 27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. 28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great (Gr. megas: big, strong, large ) is thy faith [this mother was a gentile with faith no bigger than a mustard seed]: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
𝔸 llow me to make these summary points about faith:
Allow me to make these summary points about faith with the hope that in your mind you will rewind them a few times and carefully consider their value to your personal faith in God.
1. Many have faith in the word “faith” and not an actual and true belief in God and in His plans, provisions and protections for their lives. One cannot believe that they believe in and trust God but must in fact include Him in their daily life, read His Word to strengthen real faith, look to the Lord for help and guidance, and wait on His physical or spiritual provision.
2. Faith is not you doing “mind over matter” but looking into the full-face of the One that “does all things and well”. One cannot say, “I will believe, I will believe, I will believe” but “I believe You, Lord.”
3. Your faith is not in yourself but in God—it relies on God daily, faith goes to God about all things small and great and with praise and thanksgiving, and it is patient with God waiting for what is needed. Effective faith is empty of your effort and strength and under-girded by Who-God-is (all-knowing, all-powerful, everywhere at the same time—including in your life ), and what He has promised, and what He can do .
4. A small grain of faith the size of a mustard seed (1-2 mm ) is sufficient if you and I will use it to go the Lord, and in confidence ask, believe, and (the hard part ) wait . We do not ask and have a timeline or we will act ourselves, that is weak or non-faith—no, we ask and wait, and either God will act and we will recognize it, or it just might be that the Lord will give us the wisdom or knowledge we must have to solve the need (and if we will by faith ) having heard from Him take action as the result of our asking and patient waiting.
( † † † )
† Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report… 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him : for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
† 2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk by faith, not by sight…
The children of Israel in the Wilderness cried out against God and Moses at the Red Sea—if they’d simply bowed the knee and asked God for help, their supernatural deliverance would have come in the same way !
They griped and complained when there were no wells, streams or rivers for water—if they had again in humility asked God for water, it would have come in the same way as it did come but without God’s displeasure.
The same is true of their murmuring about food, which resulted in manna and quail but with Jehovah-jireh’s (“He sees and provides” ) anger and punishment for such unnecessary complaining and bad attitudes.
𝔸 nd oh, let’s not forget their terrible rebellion ...
And oh, let’s not forget their terrible rebellion at the news that the Promise Land had walled cities, people in greater numbers than they, and also had literal giants in the land—those that in minds and words cried and revolted in fear and disbelief [they ] died never having arrived at that destination—only their children and grandchildren went in—yet, when the time came, those walls and large populations and even the giants did not stop the nation from taking what God had promised.
It didn’t have to be and wasn’t supposed to be that way (their complaints and God’s great displeasure about their murmuring about Him ) if they instead had presented themselves in humility and faith before Him, worshiped their mighty God, and made their legitimate needs and petitions for favor known before Him.
( † † † )
† Mark 11: [About the things we have need of: ] 21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away. 22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God... 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them , and ye shall have them .
† Luke 18: [Regarding men troubling us: ] 6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry (Gr. haloo: a greeting or shout to call attention to ) day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith (reliance on, constancy of trust in God ) on the earth […or murmuring and complaining ]?
𝔸 nd one final thought about this saying of Jesus:
And one final thought about this saying of Jesus: “When ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them”, we simply must and always defer to the reply of God whatever it is—by patient faith and in humility no matter the outcome of our praying—we must agree with God’s reply or answer saying “Yes, Lord, Thy will be done”.
This is agreeing with God “for our good” and not complaining that His Word is not true. Church—do not complain about God but let our thoughts and words always be affirming of Him as the Lord of our lives.
( † † † )
† Psalm 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
† Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
† Psalm 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
† Hebrews 13:5 ...for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
† Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
