Jesus made it abundantly clear that His followers are to pray and to pray often, and in this passage († Luke 18 ), Jesus connects prayer (v. 1 ) with the sustainability of one’s faith (v. 8 ).
Listen :
Yes, († Romans 10:17 ) tells us that “faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God” but prayer is also about hearing in real-time the word of God to our lives as well, as needed this can be day-by-day from His Spirit within.
Paul also makes the point that we are to pray without ceasing, and Peter, James and Jude urge us to pray. In Luke’s book of the Acts of the Apostles, he mentions prayer some 27 times.
FOR BELIEVERS TODAY
I suppose the second highest failure of consistent discipleship practices, - next to not reading the Word of God - is the failure to often pray.
( † † † )
† Luke 11:1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. 2 And he said unto them, When ye pray…
† Luke 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always , that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
† Luke 22:45 And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, 46 And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation [this bespeaks that by prayer we are strengthened and given courage by the Holy Spirit ].
† Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always (making the occasion at a set time ) with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. . .
† 1 Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer .
† James 5:16 ...The effectual fervent (efficient , [effective and successful ] mighty in ) prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
† Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost ...
There comes a point in our praying by faith that God will say to the faithful one, “I have heard your prayer on this issue, you can stop asking Me and begin thanking Me for that which you have asked.” Thanksgiving is the capstone evidence of one’s faith.
I Have Several Prayers That I PRAY DAILY
I have several prayers that I pray daily and others not daily but regularly: Daily for healing for my wife, in more recent months for myself also. She and I pray daily for the saving of our family members as the Holy Spirit has taught us to, and you should also.
Regularly I pray regarding the dangers to our health, our lives, and our future. I pray for our safe-keeping from those that would come to steal, destroy or kill us. I pray against the intended negative health effects of chem-trails and their poisons falling upon us, our animals and our land, [I pray ] against the mind-affecting machinations of mind and body-effecting radio frequencies, against harmful radiation of all kinds, against the spies in the sky, on our roads, and even those evaluating our phone and email conversations—and it would be wise for you to also. These and others are things I have prayed for for a long, long time and know that God has heard me.
( † † † )
† Psalm 3:1 LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. 2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. 3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. . . 17:8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings, 9 From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about. . . 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore will not we fear. . . 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. 3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. . .
† 2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished…
† 2 Thessalonians 3:2 …[Pray ] that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. 3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
† 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it .
BY PRAYNG IN THESE WAYS having faith in God and His Word you grow stronger upon a foundation of TRUST IN GOD
By praying in these ways having faith in God and His Word, you grow stronger upon a foundation of trust in God. It is also by imprecatory prayer, which is not to curse or pray evil upon others but is instead regarding our enemies and the enemies of God, I ask Him in His wisdom and according to His will and time to rise up against our enemies as David and Paul did countless times (Michael, too ).
( † † † )
† Psalm 68:1 Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him. 2 As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God. 3 But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.
† Psalm 5:10 [Regarding our enemies, David prayed: ] Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee. 11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee. 12 For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
† 2 Timothy 4:14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works...
† Jude 9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
It is not new information I am sharing with you that we need to be a prayerful people—a people that is to practice the full range of our faith in God, including by talking to Him. But there is an aspect of our needful prayer-life that you and I must amend to, if we will pray and pray faithfully; this discussion is to inform or remind you of it.
But first let me tell you of something about GOD and PRAYER
But first, let me tell you of something about God and prayer that few know about because they fail to read their Bibles, or at least the Old Testament once in a while. There have been several times that the Lord has eventually told the prophets or others to stop praying because He would not answer their prayers for the their nation due to its stiff-neckedness and refusal to obey the Word of the Lord. He actually said, “Do not pray for this people because I will not hear those prayers” (my paraphrase ).
Except for our prayers for the lost that can make a difference (“God does more when we pray than if we do not” ), one example of God’s same instruction in our time is our praying for the blessing of our nation. (He even had told Henry Gruver to not pray and remit the sins of [7 ] specific American cities due to the judgments He would pour out on them as a result of their very great wickedness. )
God has reached a point where He has stopped blessing our nation after He had inspired so many voices to call for repentance, to-no-avail(! ), that now He has instituted judgment on the United States of America.
For we that would pray for our country’s return to normalcy and prosperity, God has said, “No . I will not hear those prayers, but do pray for the lost—in your homes, extended families, your neighbors and co-workers, and others that I may bring to your mind and heart. Those prayers I will attend-to.”
Therefore, for you who do pray, seek the Lord about how you are to pray. I am certain that one word will come through loud and clear and that is “Repentance; pray that your people will repent and be born again.”
( † † † )
† Ezekiel 33:11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways. . .
† Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful (compassionate ): for they shall obtain mercy.
† Matthew 9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
† Acts 2:37 Now when they heard this [the rebuke and the truth ], they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
So there's an aspect to THE PRAYERS of the compassionate & faithful
So there is an aspect to the prayers of the compassionate and faithful that we in this present time may hear God say “Stop praying that prayer—My Word has gone forth in judgment.” But there is another thing that Lord will speak to the praying faithful and that is what I share next and in closing.
Many minutes ago today I gave you a brief list of how I have been praying and will continue to pray, especially for our family members to be saved and for our protection and provision over these next few years. But after such long-term and faithfulness in prayer, the Lord has impressed a Word to my heart; a word that I have known and do often but not so much in the context of my prayer life. He spoke this Word: “Now is the time for you to begin to thank me for all that you have asked Me for. Thank Me even before you see the fulfillment that your prayers have been answered.”
Now when I look up at the chem-trails spewing their poisons over us, I thank Him for the protection He has put in place to keep us safe from them. I walk about this property no longer concerned about harmful radiation or destructive radio frequencies sent against us.
Now my wife and I by faith thank Him for His work-in-progress for the saving of our family members, including all those in our blood line and our relatives and their children out to the 3rd and 4th generation who are still alive on the earth (be instructed by this ).
Of course, we thank Him for the provisions He regularly provides us but we now we thank Him for the protections He gives us that we cannot see with our eyes. Thankfulness is the verbal and heartfelt epilogue [final act ] of sincere and faithful prayer before God; the apt conclusion to one’s work of prayer.
THANKFULNESS is the verbal & heartfelt epilogue of sincere & faithful PRAYER before God; the apt conclusion to one’s work of PRAYER
( † † † )
† Colossians 4:2 Continue (be earnest towards, persevere, be constantly diligent ) in prayer, and watch (keep awake ) in the same with thanksgiving (gratitude, grateful language, worship )...
† 1 Thessalonians 5:16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing (without interruption, uninterruptedly ). 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
† 1 Timothy 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men. . .
† 2 Corinthians 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things , may abound to every good work... 11 Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
What is the closing spiritual argument in defense of prayer, which seems to the masses of professing Christians to be so un fulfilling? What is it among those that do pray that so many never add as an intended “P.S.” to the Lord—a proper and due closing to the discipline of prayer? Spoken gratitude from a heart of one that knows his or her prayer has been heard and the assurance that God is at work.
Thank the Lord for the things you are asking for or praying about while knowing that God is God and will handle matters according to His wisdom, purposes and time. Thanking God in the hope -of-your-faith is the evidence of your faith that He is about the good and needful things of your life and those others you pray about. Spoken thankfulness is the evidence of your faith—it says: “I believe”, even before you say, “Amen” (trustworthy is the Lord )!
Spoken THANKFULNESS is the evidence of your faith
( † † † )
† Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance (support, essence, assurance ) of things hoped for, the evidence (proof, conviction ) of things not seen.
† Luke 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
† Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
† Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.
The evidence of your faith in prayer is by including genuine, spoken out-loud thankfulness , you’re sure and patient waiting in the grace of God as His son or daughter. “When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” Let it be so for you and for me!
