THE RIGHT WORD - with Brother Scott
READ (1 Thessalonians 4:1) (Hebrews 10:35) (Luke 18:1)

Listen :

We are discussing the means whereby in the times we live in, our compromising on spiritual matters will kill our faith in God, [faith] which is how we receive forgiveness, cleansing from our sins, the gift of the Holy Spirit, and the promise of eternal life in the realm of God. Faith is that important!

From PART {#1} You Should Have Heard This  LOUD & CLEAR

Not reading God’s written Word regularly (even daily) with your spiritual ears and eyes paying attention, [not reading it] is compromise and sets one’s feet on the pathway leading in the direction of killing faith in God. God’s Word and our faith is the key to avoiding the other four areas that we would become guilty of compromise, if we will read the Word and live-it out.

To not read our Bibles regularly and with purpose is the father of compromise that permits earthly fears, doubts about God, prideful independence from God, and habitual sin to eventually kill our faith in Him, which faith by grace is required to be saved from eternal and tormentive separation from Him.

Our Bibles reveal the history of God’s work and power to do what He said He will do, and what His promises and provisions are available for us while still living on the earth. If we will grow in faith and trust in God regarding these important matters, we will grow to be able to shun the things that can kill our faith in God.

As you know, our earth-related fears, the fears that arise and deeply trouble us of things that come against us or we imagine will come, [fears] are in my experience perhaps the second highest danger to our faith in God and must be overcome by faith or we naturally resort to earthly solutions without seeking God’s help and guidance.

We must train ourselves to within seconds of a disturbing threat or serious danger to our lives or our life’s normal conditions, [train ourselves] to remember that “nothing catches God off-guard” and we must seek Him and not the world’s help “right off the bat”, as they say. As I have shared over the years, when bad things happen to us, turn and face God, ask for grace, and worship Him—worship Him as we wait for His help.

In our tomorrows you can be sure that becoming fearful about the things we hear about and will see with our eyes on news reports will come one right after another with some coming several at once. Issues about your ability to pay for life’s needed things can arise affecting the ability to buy food, find potable water, have a place to live and be safe.

Serious weather-related or other events coming upon the earth will greatly concern us. Foreign invaders coming into our land of “the free and the brave” will happen and there will be nothing you or I will be able to do about that terrible danger apart from looking to God.

If you or I submit to our fears, we effectively set aside the help and provision of the God Who loves us and gave His Son for our salvation. We cannot give-in to fear—it allows the onset of a spiritually terminal disease to our faith in God and in His Savior Jesus Christ.

( )
† Matthew 6:30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? 31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

† Hebrews 13:5 ... he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

The third compromise that  KILLS FAITH  involves
DOUBTS ABOUT GOD  and what His Word says.
DOUBT : To be uncertain as to belief about some issue; to hesitate in believing; to be undecided as to the truth of a negative or a positive proposition. To question or hold questionable; to be inclined not to believe; to withhold confidence from; to distrust. Doubt can lead to [spiritually critical] indecision and hesitation in making choices [such as “Do I rely on God" or handle this on my own or seek the world’s way].
( )
† Matthew 21:20 And when the disciples saw it, they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away! 21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

† Luke 12:28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? 29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

† James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth (doubts) is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

To doubt that God is, that He is able, and that He will do what is right for you is to deny faith what it can do. To doubt God is dangerously close to suggesting that He may be a liar but we read and see in the Scriptures that God does not lie and He does-not-change († 1 Sam. 15:29), († Mal. 3:6), († Tit.1:2), († Heb. 6:18).

That is why a true believer must read the Word and also have an ongoing relationship with God as you would a best friend. Regarding that relationship, I again remind you of the two related spiritual needs in our lives spoken of by Jesus in the parable of the unjust judge; the subject is about prayer and is tied to the question of whether faith prevails—or not:

( )
† Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable [of the unjust judge] unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint. . . 7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth [or has doubt stripped faith from the heart of a once follower of Jesus]?

† Hebrews 3:12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. . . 10:35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. 37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry [like the eventual action by the unjust judge]. 38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

The 4th  FAITH-KILLER  to be on-guard against
is that of  Prideful Independence  from God.
The fourth faith-killer to be on-guard against is that of prideful independence from God. This is an aspect about many people that keeps one’s faith in God in a cabinet drawer until it is needed to go to Heaven while not being interested in faith as part of a daily lifestyle and relationship with the Lord. Such men and women believe themselves perfectly capable of handling the issues of life on their own without giving thought to God or desiring His counsel through prayer and the wisdom of the Word. He or she says, “I can solve this problem on my own; I don’t need to take the time to pray about it or consider what the Bible says for any guidance.”

Despite God’s many promises to bless his future, upon returning to His father’s homeland, Jacob feared his brother Esau and sent livestock gifts as well as separating his family into two groups. King Saul had little regard for what God had said about the Amalekites or what God spoke about seeking the counsel of witches. Jonah made his own judgment about Nineveh and ran from the word of the Lord. And the largest segment of the church on earth today is Laodicea, and believes it is doing just fine without getting too spiritually minded about things.

( )
† 1 Corinthians 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

† James 4:13 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. 16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

† Revelation 3:15 [Speaking to the church at Laodicea, Jesus said:] I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked...

The 5th and our  Last Compromise Identified  that delivers faith
to a  Death-Row Cell  is that of  Sin  - especially  Habitual Sin
The fifth and our last compromise identified that delivers faith to a death-row cell is that of sin, and especially habitual sin; sin that one delights in and is not willing to put a stop to. In time, the practice of sin will reduce little-by-little the constancy in one’s belief in God and that which we must have in a genuine and active faith to be saved at the end of our lives. Sin strips the mind and heart of († Hebrews 11 verse 1’s) “evidence” and all traces of the “substance” needed to qualify for eternal life.
( )
† Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

† Romans 2:4 ... despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? 5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds...

† 1 John 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. . . 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth (guards, keeps an eye on, fulfills the Word) himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

† Jude 1:17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; 18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. 19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. 20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost...

Consider your faith in God and in His Word
as a set of new tires on your vehicle.

They are an important part of you getting to where you want to go each day (i.e. you being welcomed into Heaven). Tires are where the old saying “Where the rubber meets the road” came into being about the difficult decisions and issues of life.

That phrase means this: “It’s where belief is put to the test in a practical situation and reveals its true effectiveness in real-world circumstances; it puts belief into action in real life.” As a people saved by faith through grace, we are to drive on the four tires of faith all day and every day (no fear or doubt, close fellowship with God, and having victory over sin).

But know this: Tires need to be respected and cared for! They carry a lot of weight, they are affected by icy roads in winter or super-hot blacktops during hot summers, they take a lot of abuse on sharp curves or when hitting potholes or other unseen obstacles in the road. They need to be kept properly inflated to the manufacturer’s specifications or they will wear improperly and quickly (your faith have must be exerting pressure against the ways of the world).

Sharp obstacles are really bad for tires such as a nail or screw which will cause the needed air to seep out. Your tires need to be rotated regularly to monitor unusual wear caused by the front-end alignment being off and to keep the front steering tires always as the best available on the car. A soft tire needs to be examined as to why it is low in air pressure; is there a nail or screw stuck in it or a defective valve?

These and other considerations are how the intended long-life, service and safe-travel provided by your tires can avoid compromise and fail—sometimes catastrophically.

Our faith in God must be even more-so carefully taken care of.

Your faith in God and what He has recorded in the Holy Scriptures will get you from this life and into God’s Presence in spite of life’s potholes, nails in the road, and the dangerous leaks brought on by moments of weakness—leaks that are repaired by repentance and fellowship with the Lord.

Do all that you can to disallow any injuries to your faith due to compromise, which happens through ignorance of the Word, by fears, doubts about God, independence from Him, and personal sin.

These things most assuredly will kill your faith in God in the days ahead of us, which according to the Word will be a rough road indeed.

( )
† Galatians 3:11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

† Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

† Luke 18:8 . . . when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

† Hebrews 10:37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 38 Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. [By my underlines above, do you get the picture? Compromise kills faith. Selah.]
