THE RIGHT WORD - with Brother Scott
Listen :

Near the end of our second part of this series, I concluded saying this; let me remind you: “As a significant part of the whole solution given to us by the Lord to stop sinning, the Word reveals two areas that must be recognized as the sources of our temptations and sin, which are (1) the world and (2) the passions and uncleanness of our own fallen nature.
If a Christian is willing to begin getting victory over his or her spiritual laziness and the adulteries of believers with the world, in my experience, the easier of these two to get free of are the things of the world. Victories over the world can come faster and will encourage you with more vigor to press into overcoming the issues within your own self that allow sin.

If you need a focused place to start, with the help of the Word and the Holy Spirit, get things spiritually aligned with the Word between you and this world we live in.”

AGREE  WITH  THE WORD OF GOD
Agree with the Word of God and view the world as at least a distraction and not your friend! I then read these Scriptures and two others:
( )
† 1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life [all things of the old man, the sinful nature], is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

† Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified (impaled on the cross, its passion subdued) unto me, and I unto the world. [Two others read were † James 1:27 and † 1 John 5:3-5]

With the world being one of two main sources of temptation, compromise, and other spiritual adulteries leading to sin, it has been my experience that turning my back on the things of the world was not as hard to do as was the stopping my sinning that originated from within my own mind and foolish heart.

And so, I suggest that as you hopefully make a more fortified decision to rid your life of sin that your look at that aspect of your sin-trouble and begin to sever yourself from love and influence of the world and its things.

( )
† 1 John 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. [Note: Strive to have the “rhema” revelation of what this statement means.]

† Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

† Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? . . . 19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. 22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions [his idol—what are yours?]. 23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

† 1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9 But they that will be rich [but also all that love this world and its things] fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

With the help of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God it is up to you to seriously look at how your mind, heart, and your commitment to spiritual progress is contaminated by the world and then as a dedicated follower of Jesus change that. A little contamination affects the purity of a thing but greater concentrations of a contaminate cause corruption by which that thing becomes totally compromised and useless.

What physical relationships and or recreational activities or other things draw your mind away from holiness or lead to physically doing things that you know are wrong in outright disobedience to the commandments of the Lord Jesus and what the Word teaches us in its many other places?

The answers for your life require you to examine every part of your life as it interacts with the world—some of our regular contact with people and places of the world are necessary (work, school, medical issues and outcomes, etc.) but many worldly involvements are not spiritually good for us (some family members or friendships, some shopping and purchases, social media participations, entertainments).

What things are costing you time in needed and much better investments in good relationships, spending of money, health related activities, and spiritual growth? For the things of the world that detract from your spiritual growth and purity, begin to wean yourself off of those time-stealing, money-wasting, Jesus-following distractions.

PRAY  A PRAYER  LIKE THIS  REGULARLY
Pray a prayer like this regularly for yourself and for your loved ones also: “Lord, help me (or my spouse, or children or grandchildren, my in-laws, [help us]) to begin to see our unhealthy relationships with the world for what they are—a distraction from what is important and eternal and even costly to our heavenly account.

Help (them) to lose interest and become bored with the things of the world that are hindering me and my family members. According to Your will, I ask for Your help to sever all mental and emotional ties to the world that are bad for me (them).

By Your Spirit, show me what I cannot see as love for the world and its things that I might stop my involvements with the ones I do not need, cannot love, or be emotionally dependent on. For those necessary interactions with the world (work, school, medical helps, friendships) help me to recognize where the lines are that cause spiritually unhealthy influences upon me that I must limit.

Lord, I ask for your help for (my loved ones) to get free from the temptations to sin brought on by the world. In Jesus Name, amen.”

For the things of the world that consume too much of your thought, time, your money or other valuable aspects of your personal life, you are instructed by the Word to do this:

( )
† Matthew 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny (abstain, contradict, disown [the desires of the useless or sinful intentions]) himself, and take up (lift, raise up) his cross (expose to death, instrument of self-denial), and follow me (literally: walk the road at My side, accompany Me as My disciple). 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

† Matthew 6:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

With a dedication to begin to set yourself free from the opportunities and temptations to sin, starting with the useless and vain entanglements of the world that you have, learn to say “No!”—out loud if it helps.
Say  “No”  to  Worldly Passions & Pleasures
Say “No” to the worldly passions and pleasures that contaminate your new life in Christ that will lead you dangerously off-course in a detour away from the good road leading to eternal life.

Imperatively say “No” to certain friendships, to all compromises to your spiritual integrity; “No” to excessive amounts of time in entertainments and anything that are spiritually mind-numbing activities.

Instead, do things that are mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually edifying. Point yourself toward things that are good for you in these areas and that have God’s stamp of approval on them.

By taking these stealthy and bad things of the world to the cross to be nailed there, we begin to be set free from the first of the two problems a Christian has in overcoming sin in his or her life.

( )
† James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

† Matthew 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

† Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. 5 Mortify (deaden, subdue) therefore your members (parts, limbs [tempted by the tentacles of the world]) which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6 For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: 7 In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

I must bring back into clear focus the extreme value and purpose of the written Word of God for its help for us to recognize how we are to defeat the sinful nature and the sin it causes in our lives.
IF YOU WILL NOT READ YOUR BIBLE
you will have at least great difficulty to stop sin happening
in your life, if you are able to at all without its help.
The knowledge of God found in His Word, His power, promises, and provisions for the believer is critical for our deliverance from the power of sin. These are things we must know and respect about the Word of God:
( )
† Matthew 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

† 1 Corinthians 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications (companionships) corrupt good manners (moral habits). 34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

† 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished (fully equipped) unto all good works [overcoming sin is a “good work”!].

† Luke 8:11 Now the parable [of the sower means] this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

† Luke 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

† James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

† John 17:14 I have given them thy word. . . 17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

† Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

We are talking about dying to the flesh’s strong instinct to keep your life in bondage to its sinful nature. By the death of the old man, the flesh, the outward man, the sinful nature that you and I were born with and ruled by, we sin less and less the more it dies.

Today has been a lesson on one of the two main areas that must be delivered to the cross to be crucified, that is where it is exposed to death to free us from recurring sin. The easier of the two areas that must go to the cross and left to die there is our love of the world and our allowing it and its things to regularly drag us into its filthy ways and soiling our righteousness in Christ.

( )
† 1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

† Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

† Galatians 6:14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified (impaled on the cross, its passion subdued) unto me, and I unto the world.

And  finally  we will look at  needed death  to the sinful self
and how with a holy determination that can happen
to free us  from our sinning ways.
