(VOTE YES) On Measure U
City of Porterville Public Works Competition Charter Amendment:
Lets Porterville decide whether city work is done in-house, by contract, or with another agency, the managed competition authority that saved San Diego taxpayers tens of millions of dollars, and that in several cases city crews won outright by getting more efficient.
(VOTE YES) On Measure V
City of Porterville Council Vacancy Election Requirement:
Requires a special election whenever a council seat has a year or more left so voters rather than politicians fill it, while allowing appointment for short remainders where an election would cost more than the term is worth.
