The Fire in His Eyes
~ Washington’s Faith in a New World ~
You ever stop and ask yourself why George Washington didn’t take the throne?
He could’ve. Every general in history who won a revolution took the crown—or had it handed to
them by a desperate, starry-eyed people. That’s what power does. It creates worshippers.
But Washington walked away. Twice !!!
That wasn’t politics. That was faith.
That was a man who believed more in God than government, more in virtue than victory, and
more in We the People than “I the King.”
And today, as we tumble into another November—where Thanksgiving is often reduced to
parade floats and sales ads—we’re long overdue for a hard look at why we gave thanks in the
first place.
Because if we don't remember why we gave thanks, we’ll soon forget how to give it.
Let’s start where this idea of American thanksgiving truly begins—not with turkeys or pilgrims
—but with a battle-weary man on his knees at Valley Forge, whispering prayers into the snow,
long before victory was secure.
|
Washington Didn’t Just Practice Faith - He LED With It.
|
The man was forged in the fires of war and winter, surrounded by the smell of death and
betrayal, but still refused to let bitterness become his god. He had every reason to question divine
providence—but he didn’t.
He credited God with every victory
And when defeat came, he asked God what he could do
better. That’s not normal. That’s not politics.
That’s a man who believed his life wasn’t his own.
Washington’s faith wasn’t performative. It wasn’t for a crowd or a vote. It was rugged. Private.
Unshakable.
When he became President
he didn’t host galas to show it off—he declared a day
of thanksgiving to God Almighty.

Let Me Repeat That For The D.C. Drones
|
Let me repeat that for the D.C. drones who’d rather pass resolutions about gender studies in
Pakistan than face the source of our founding:
The first official Thanksgiving was not about
harvest. It was about Heaven.
A President of the United States pointed the whole country to
God... without apology.
Imagine that happening today. Imagine the headlines. Imagine the lawsuits.
We’ve gone from a nation grateful for divine blessings ... to a nation offended by the mention of
blessings.
But don’t you dare tell me that Washington’s example doesn’t still burn in the bones of this
nation. You wouldn’t be reading this if you didn’t feel it.
That flicker in your gut when you think
of what we used to be? That’s not nostalgia. That’s a memory of freedom passed down in your DNA.
And that fire? It’s not out. Not yet.

The Quiet Power Of Humility
|
Washington could’ve been king
The people offered it. Congress would’ve bowed. But instead,
he gave up power—not once, but
twice. After the war, he resigned his command. After two
terms, he left the Presidency.
Why ???
Because he believed in something higher. He believed that
no man should be the source of your
rights. He believed that liberty had to be stewarded, not ruled. He didn’t just refuse a crown. He
crushed the very idea of monarchy in America—and replaced it with a dangerous new notion:
Self-governance
That’s why they hate him today
That’s why statues of him get defaced while mediocrities get
murals. Because Washington’s legacy reminds the power-hungry that they’re not gods—and that
we don’t need them.
His faith wasn't just personal. It was structural. It shaped how this Republic was built. His
thanksgiving proclamation wasn’t a suggestion—it was a roadmap.
He called on Americans to give thanks to
God, to confess national sins, and to walk in humility
and virtue. He didn’t point to himself. He didn’t demand praise.
He redirected it—always—to something higher
And in that simple act, he did something no man had done before: he founded a nation on
restraint instead of domination.
|
What Would Washington Think of Us Now?
|
Probably heartbreak.
A nation that once bowed to God now bows to algorithms, bureaucrats, and influencers. We’ve
traded the humility of prayer for the arrogance of tweets.
➳ Gratitude has been replaced with grievance.
➳ Civic virtue swapped for political vanity.
But if you think all is lost—you don’t know your history.
Washington didn’t give up in the bleakest winter. Neither will we.
We Don’t Need a King. We Need Courage
And more than that—we need remembrance.
Remembrance of who we are. Who we were built to be. Not slaves to the state. Not sheep for the
ruling class. But a people accountable to God and unafraid of man.
|
This November, Choose Thanksgiving Not as a Holiday - but as a Declaration
|
Remember the man who could’ve ruled - but didn’t.
Who gave everything and demanded
nothing. Who pointed an entire new nation to God instead of himself.
And ask yourself: What are you doing with the freedom he left behind?
Because here’s the truth: Freedom only works when it’s tied to gratitude. The moment you forget
where your rights come from, you start selling them for comfort. That’s how tyranny starts—
with a trade, not a takeover.
So no, Thanksgiving isn’t about turkey It’s not about football or family drama or sales at Target.
It’s about faith.
Faith that we’re not alone in this fight. Faith that truth is still worth defending. And faith that the
same Providence who guided Washington’s hand still waits on ours.
Let’s stop playing defense Let’s start remembering.
And let’s thank God—not just once a year—but with lives that echo the quiet courage of a man
who gave up a crown... so we could govern ourselves.
If that’s not worth rediscovering, I don’t know what is.
