THE SPIRIT OF OCTOBER
~ Preparing the Soil for Revival ~
If America is going to see a Great Awakening…
It’s going to start with an October cleaning.
Not a political shake-up.
Not a new app.
Not a clever campaign or spiritual marketing trend.
No — the real revival will come like fall itself:
Quietly.
Suddenly.
And only after the soil has been broken.
October was once that month. A sacred pause. A seasonal exhale.
The nation would slow just enough for the soul to hear God say:
“It’s time to till.”
Time to break ground.
Pull weeds.
Tear down idols.
And return to the garden.
Not the Eden we lost — but the one we can still plant, if we’re willing to get our hands dirty.
|
Revival Doesn’t Start in the Sky — It Starts in the Soil
|
Everyone wants the fireworks.
They want the big tent meetings, packed stadiums, viral clips of baptisms in lakes, and “Asbury Awakening” energy.
And don’t get me wrong — those are beautiful.
→ But if you know anything about farming, you know this ...
→ Harvest only comes after hidden labor.
→ Before the fruit comes the fallow.
→ Before the revival comes the repentance.
→ Before the glory comes the grit.
And October — when rightly understood — is the calendar’s reminder to get the soil ready.
Because in winter, roots grow deeper.
And in spring, seeds must already be in the ground.
|
Let’s get honest. You want awakening? It’s not going to happen with:
» Doctrinal debates on Facebook.
» “Discernment” influencers who expose everything except their own pride.
» Church conferences with light shows but no conviction.
» Podcasts and merch lines and Christian dating apps.
Revival doesn’t start on platforms.
It starts in repentance.
You want October to mean something again?
Then walk into your garage.
Your inbox.
Your heart.
And start pulling weeds.
The show won’t save us.
Only surrender will.
|
America’s Old Gods Are Still on the Throne
|
Let’s name the idols:
• Comfort. We’d rather be liked than be holy.
• Control. We trust our savings account more than our Savior.
• Convenience. If it’s not fast and fun, we’re out.
• Compromise. We whisper truth to not offend the mob.
• Consumption. We buy because we’re bored, then blame the system for our debt.
And before you think this is just about the Left, let me be clear:
Idolatry is bipartisan.
There are golden calves at the feet of Trump rallies and church pulpits alike.
There are spiritual strongholds in red states and blue states.
Until we smash the idols, we’re just playing church with a patriotic flag on top.

The Bonfire 🔥 Begins in October
|
There’s something ancient about this month.
Farmers knew it.
Prophets felt it.
Even your body senses it — that this is a time for releasing.
The trees know it’s time to let go. Why don’t we?
🔥 Why do we cling to the very things killing our joy?
🔥 Why do we defend the sin we were meant to bury?
🔥 Why do we beg God for revival and then fill our eyes with filth, our minds with noise, and our schedules with distraction?
It’s time to burn the brush.
Delete the apps.
Turn off the noise.
Cancel the subscriptions.
Confess the secret sin.
Fast. Pray. Sit in silence.
Let October strip you bare — so something eternal can take root.
Jesus Till(ed) Too - Think about it:
Even the Son of God withdrew.
He didn’t spend every moment preaching. He went to desolate places. Garden places. Wilderness places. He pulled away to prepare.
He prayed with sweat like blood before He changed the world.
If Jesus needed stillness and surrender before His public ministry…
How dare we skip that step and go straight to the spotlight?
Revival doesn’t skip the garden. And gardens don’t skip the tilling.

A Nation Built on Broken Ground
|
We love to quote the Founders. We post memes. We fly flags.
But do we understand the spirit behind what they built?
America didn’t rise from excess.
It rose from stripped-down repentance.
A people broke from a king… because they bowed to The King.
They gave thanks in October, long before there was Black Friday.
They tithed before they had bank accounts.
They prayed before they had power.
We must do the same.
Tear down our high places.
Rebuild the altars.
Repent of self-worship disguised as patriotism.
Only then can we reclaim this soil.
|
|
Preparing the Soil in Real Life
|
Let’s get practical.
Here’s how you prepare the soil of your home this month:
1. Hold a “spiritual audit” night.
Sit with your family. Ask: What’s distracting us from God? Where have we compromised? What needs to go?
2. Burn the brush.
Literally. Take the books, shows, and influences that pollute your soul — and get rid of them. Make a symbolic fire pit if you need to. Clean house.
3. Plant one holy habit.
Start a 10-minute morning prayer. Read a Psalm before dinner. Memorize one verse a week. Something small and sacred.
4. Fast from noise.
Pick one day a week: no phone after 7pm. No news. Just quiet. Candles. Worship. Reflection.
5. Bless your land.
Pray over your front yard. Your home. Your kids’ bedrooms. Speak life and promise over your property.
6. Repent publicly.
Say sorry. To your spouse. Your kids. Your friends. Not because it’s performative — because it’s powerful.
This is the soil preparation God honors.
|
From Tilling to Testimony
|
When you clear the land, God does the rest.
† He sends the rain.
† He makes things grow.
† He turns ashes to harvest.
† He fills silence with presence.
† He makes dry bones rattle.
But He will not fill a house that’s already full of idols.
Clear it.
Consecrate it.
And then stand back.
Because once the soil is ready, the seeds don’t stay buried long.
|
|
What If October Isn’t the End?
|
We treat October like a slow goodbye.
But maybe — just maybe — it’s the start of something new.
A return.
A reclaiming.
A radical clearing of ground in our lives, churches, and communities.
→ Not for show ↔ Not for content ↔ But for consecration ←
Because the revival we’re waiting for…
Won’t be televised.
Won’t be viral.
Won’t be political.
It’ll be local.
Personal.
Sacrificial.
And unmistakably holy.
→ Let it start here ↔ Let it start now ↔ Let it start with you. ←
→ Till the soil ↔ Tear down the idols ↔ Make room for the rain. ←
|
What you are not changing, you are choosing.
